How to Evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna in Pokémon GO
In Pokémon GO, most Pokémon evolve simply by spending Candy.
However, a select few species require additional conditions, such as evolution items, active Lure Modules, or other special requirements.
Ursaluna Evolution Is Only Available During the Full Moon Window!

Ursaring belongs to the latter category. In the main series games, Ursaring evolves into Ursaluna using the item Peat Block.
However, in Pokémon GO, this evolution method was replaced with a unique requirement: Ursaring can only evolve into Ursaluna during the full moon period.

As a result, Trainers can typically evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna only during a brief two-day window each lunar month, corresponding approximately to the 15th and 16th days of the lunar calendar.
If you miss the full moon window, you’ll have to wait until the following month before evolving Ursaring again.

Is Ursaluna Good in Raids and PvP?
In the main series Pokémon games, Ursaluna is considered one of the strongest and most versatile Ground-type attackers thanks to its outstanding base stats, excellent abilities, and powerful moves such as Facade, Earthquake, and Headlong Rush.
Unfortunately, Pokémon GO tells a very different story.
Starting with its strengths, Ursaluna retains its impressive stat distribution and, fittingly for a bear Pokémon, has access to an unusually wide selection of Charged Attacks.

In fact, Ursaluna currently has eight different Charged Attacks, putting it in the same category as Dragonite.
The downside, of course, is that getting the exact move combination you want can be quite the adventure (good luck with those Charged TMs).
The problems begin with its Fast Move options.
Since Pokémon GO does not feature Abilities, Ursaluna loses one of its biggest advantages from the main series games.
On top of that, its available Fast Moves leave much to be desired.
Both Rock Smash and Tackle Down have notable flaws, while Tackle is serviceable but suffers from being a Normal-type Fast Move.
Had Ursaluna received a move like Mud Shot, its viability in both raids and PvP would likely have increased dramatically.

As things stand, Ursaluna’s primary competitive niche is in the Master League Premier Cup, where its impressive stats can still shine.
The recommended PvP moveset is:
- Tackle
- Swift
- High Horsepower*
Despite its shortcomings, Ursaluna remains one of the more unique Pokémon in Pokémon GO and is certainly worth evolving whenever the next full moon rolls around.
