Pokémon GO | Necrozma Fusion Guide (Dusk Mane, Dawn Wings) : Fusion Energy and Moveset

Necrozma Fusion Guide

What Is Fusion?

Fusion is a special form of form change available to certain Pokémon in Pokémon GO, currently limited to Necrozma and Kyurem. Unlike standard form changes, Fusion requires two different Pokémon, Fusion Energy, Candy, and additional resources.

When performing a Fusion, certain attributes—including the Shiny status, IVs, and Special Background—are inherited from only one of the Pokémon involved. Therefore, trainers should pay close attention to which Pokémon’s information is preserved.

Note: Shiny status, IVs, and Special Backgrounds are always determined by the Necrozma used for the Fusion.

Note: Separating a fused Necrozma is free of charge. However, if you decide to fuse it again later, you will need to pay the full Fusion cost once more, so be sure to choose carefully.

Unlike Kyurem Fusion, Necrozma does not require learning a prerequisite move in order to obtain its exclusive attack.

How to Obtain Fusion Energy

Fusion Energy can only be obtained by defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma in raids.

After completing a raid, trainers can receive between 80 and 120 Fusion Energy, depending on the number of Premier Balls earned during the bonus challenge.

Note: Regular Necrozma raids prior to Fusion releases do not award Fusion Energy.

Tips: How to Collect Fusion Energy Faster

While every Fusion raid guarantees at least 80 Fusion Energy, trainers can earn up to 170 by maximizing their Premier Ball rewards.

To increase your Fusion Energy gains efficiently, consider:

  • Battling at gyms controlled by your team
  • Using Party Play and Party Power
  • Raiding with friends for friendship bonuses
  • Using Mega Evolution bonuses
  • Taking advantage of Crowned Zacian raid bonuses and other available raid bonuses

Dusk Mane Necrozma Performance

Gym and Raid Battles (PvE)

With its exclusive move, Dusk Mane Necrozma ranks among the strongest Steel-type attackers in Pokémon GO alongside Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta.

Crowned Shield ZamazentaMetal Claw + Behemoth Bash**97
Dusk Mane NecrozmaPsycho Cut + Sunsteel Strike**96

In standard raid scenarios, Zacian and Zamazenta are slightly stronger Steel-type attackers. However, the situation changes significantly when Party Power is enabled.

Crowned Shield ZamazentaMetal Claw + Behemoth Bash**96
Crowned Sword ZacianMetal Claw + Behemoth Blade**95

Thanks to Psycho Cut’s exceptional energy generation, Dusk Mane Necrozma becomes the strongest Steel-type attacker under Party Power conditions.

Performance in Trainer Battles (PvP)

Dusk Mane Necrozma was one of the most dominant Pokémon in the early Master League meta.

However, the release of Crowned Sword Zacian, with its incredible Steel/Fairy defensive typing, quickly pushed Dusk Mane Necrozma out of the top tier. While Dusk Mane remains a strong Pokémon, it currently struggles to compete directly with Zacian in the Master League metagame.

Dawn Wings Necrozma Performance

Gym and Raid Battles (PvE)

Dawn Wings Necrozma stands as the most dominant Ghost-type attacker in Pokémon GO.

Mega Mewtwo YPsycho Cut + Shadow Ball*92
LunalaShadow Claw + Shadow Ball76

Because Moongeist Beam is extraordinarily powerful, Dawn Wings Necrozma can achieve nearly identical DPS using Psycho Cut instead of Shadow Claw.

When combined with Party Power, the results become even more dramatic.

Mega Mewtwo YPsycho Cut + Shadow Ball*92
Mega GengarLick* + Shadow Ball91
LunalaShadow Claw + Shadow Ball67

Since Party Power heavily favors moves with high energy generation and short cooldowns, Dawn Wings Necrozma gains an enormous advantage over competing Ghost-type attackers.

Performance in Trainer Battles (PvP)

In Trainer Battles, Dawn Wings Necrozma faces challenges due to taking 2.56× damage from both Ghost- and Dark-type attacks.

Although Moongeist Beam is undoubtedly a powerful move, the current Master League meta increasingly favors the raw value of Shadow Ball. As a result, Lunala is often preferred over Dawn Wings Necrozma in today’s competitive environment.
