Kyurem Fusion Guide
What Is Fusion?

Fusion is a special type of form change available to certain Pokémon in Pokémon GO, currently including Necrozma and Kyurem. Unlike regular form changes, Fusion requires two different Pokémon, Fusion Energy, Candy, and additional resources.
One important detail is that the fused Pokémon inherits specific attributes from only one of the Pokémon used in the process, including its Shiny status, IVs, and Special Background. Trainers should carefully choose which Kyurem they use before fusing.

Note: To obtain the signature moves Freeze Shock and Ice Burn, the Kyurem used for fusion must already know
Glaciate before fusion.
How to Obtain Fusion Energy

Fusion Energy can only be obtained by defeating Black Kyurem or White Kyurem in raids.
After completing a Fusion Raid, Trainers can earn approximately 80 to 170 Fusion Energy, depending on the number of Premier Balls received during the bonus challenge.
Note: Regular Kyurem raids do not reward Fusion Energy.
Tips: How to Collect Fusion Energy Faster
While completing a Fusion Raid guarantees at least 80 Fusion Energy, Trainers can earn up to 170 Fusion Energy by maximizing the number of Premier Balls awarded.
To earn more Premier Balls, it is recommended to:
- Raid at Gyms controlled by your team
- Raid with Ultra Friends or Best Friends
- Use Party Play bonuses
- Utilize Mega Evolution bonuses
- Take advantage of Zacian raid contribution bonuses
- Contribute as much damage as possible during raids
Using these bonuses efficiently can significantly reduce the number of raids required to fully power up Black Kyurem or White Kyurem.

Black Kyurem and White Kyurem Performance
Gym and Raid Battles (PvE)
Black Kyurem and White Kyurem using their signature moves are among the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
| Pokémon | Moveset | DPS (%) |
|---|---|---|
| White Kyurem | Ice Fang + Ice Burn** | 139% |
| Black Kyurem | Dragon Tail + Freeze Shock** | 128% |
| Mega Mewtwo Y | Psycho Cut + Ice Beam | 120% |
| Baxcalibur | Ice Fang + Avalanche | 100% |
| Mamoswine | Powder Snow + Avalanche | 96% |
Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are currently the strongest Ice-type attackers in Pokémon GO. In particular, Black Kyurem remains a top-tier raid attacker despite lacking an Ice-type Fast Move.
Mega Mewtwo Y can outperform them when Party Power is consistently available, but both forms of Kyurem remain exceptional raid choices. If Party Power is active, Dragon Breath (White Kyurem) and Dragon Tail (Black Kyurem) become even more valuable due to their superior energy generation.
Note: Both forms can technically be used as Dragon-type attackers. However, because Dragon- and Ice-type raid targets often overlap, there is little reason to sacrifice their incredibly powerful signature Ice-type moves.
Trainer Battle
Both Black Kyurem and White Kyurem perform exceptionally well in the Master League thanks to their massive stats and extremely high CP.
However, White Kyurem is generally considered superior to Black Kyurem in PvP for several reasons:
- White Kyurem can pressure the highly popular Zacian using its Fire-type move Fusion Flare.
- Dragon Breath has a 0.5-second cooldown and excellent energy generation, making White Kyurem highly flexible as both a lead and a safe switch.
By comparison, Black Kyurem’s Fusion Bolt is an Electric-type attack that struggles to threaten many of the current Master League’s top meta Pokémon.
As a result, if you obtain a high-IV Kyurem, prioritizing White Kyurem is generally the recommended investment.
