Form Change
What is Form Change?

Introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, Zacian and Zamazenta each have two forms. In Pokémon GO, they can also switch forms by spending a small amount of resources.
Each Pokémon has a Hero of Many Battles form and a powered-up form—Crowned Sword for Zacian and Crowned Shield for Zamazenta. Form Changes require Pokémon Candy along with the newly introduced Sword Energy or Shield Energy, both earned from their respective raids.
How to Change Forms?
| Requirement | Crowned Sword Zacian | Crowned Shield Zamazenta |
|---|---|---|
| Pokémon | Hero of Many Battles Zacian with Iron Head | Hero of Many Battles Zamazenta with Iron Head |
| Candy | 🍬 Zacian Candy ×30 | 🍬 Zamazenta Candy ×30 |
| Energy | Sword Energy ×1,000 | Shield Energy ×1,000 |
Note: Once a Pokémon has unlocked its Crowned form, you can freely switch between forms afterward without paying the cost again.
Both Crowned Zacian and Crowned Zamazenta can immediately participate in Max Battles alongside Eternatus.
Signature Moves: Behemoth Blade & Behemoth Bash

Behemoth Blade — Stats and Adventure Effect
| Category | Value |
|---|---|
| PvE (Raid & Max Battle) | Power: 200 |
| Energy: 100 | |
| Duration: 3.5 s | |
| PvP | Power: 110 |
| Energy: 50 | |
| Additional Effect | Attack +10% (Raid), +5% (Max Battle) |
| Adventure Effect Cost | 5 Zacian Candy + 5,000 Stardust (6 minutes) |
Behemoth Blade is a Steel-type signature move that excels in raids, PvP, and Max Battles alike.
In raids, Zacian becomes one of the strongest Steel attackers in the game. Since it is a one-bar charged move, it pairs exceptionally well with Party Power, which doubles the damage of eligible charged attacks. As a result, Crowned Sword Zacian benefits more from Party Power than Crowned Shield Zamazenta.
In PvP, Behemoth Blade boasts an impressive 2.2 DPE, making it one of the strongest finishing moves available.
For Max Battles, upgrading Behemoth Blade is practically mandatory if you intend to use Zacian seriously.

Like Necrozma and Kyurem’s Adventure Effects, activating Behemoth Blade’s Adventure Effect costs 5 Zacian Candy and 5,000 Stardust and lasts 6 minutes, increasing Raid Attack by 10% (1.1×) and Max Battle Attack by 5% (1.05×).
Behemoth Bash — Stats and Adventure Effect
| Category | Value |
|---|---|
| PvE (Raid & Max Battle) | Power: 125 |
| Energy: 50 | |
| Duration: 1.5 s | |
| PvP | Power: 230 |
| Energy: 100 | |
| Additional Effect | Defense +10% (Raid), +5% (Max Battle) |
| Adventure Effect Cost | 5 Zamazenta Candy + 5,000 Stardust (6 minutes) |
Behemoth Bash is one of the strongest attacks ever introduced in Pokémon GO. It transforms Crowned Shield Zamazenta from a relatively modest attacker into one of the game’s top-tier raid Steel-type attackers.
It also delivers an impressive 2.2 DPE in PvP, giving Zamazenta devastating finishing power.
Like Behemoth Blade, it can be upgraded for Max Battles, making Zamazenta well worth building.

Its Adventure Effect functions similarly to Necrozma and Kyurem. Spending 5 Zamazenta Candy and 5,000 Stardust grants a 6-minute Defense boost, increasing Raid Defense by 10% (1.1×) and Max Battle Defense by 5% (1.05×).
Crowned Sword Zacian & Crowned Shield Zamazenta Battle Performance
Raid Performance
| Pokémon | Moveset | DPS (%) | TDO (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crowned Shield Zamazenta | Metal Claw / Behemoth Bash** | 100 | 100 |
| Crowned Sword Zacian | Metal Claw / Behemoth Blade** | 104 | 87 |
| Dusk Mane Necrozma | Metal Claw / Sunsteel Strike** | 101 | 80 |
| Metagross | Bullet Punch / Meteor Mash* | 73 | 58 |
Crowned Sword Zacian, Crowned Shield Zamazenta, and Dusk Mane Necrozma are generally considered the three strongest Steel-type attackers.
However, once Party Power is taken into account, the ranking shifts slightly to Dusk Mane Necrozma > Crowned Shield Zamazenta > Crowned Sword Zacian. The differences are relatively small, so investing in all three is highly recommended.
Although Crowned Sword Zacian cannot learn Fairy-type Fast Moves such as Charm or Fairy Wind, its outstanding Attack stat still makes it one of the strongest Fairy-type raid attackers.
| Pokémon | Moveset | DPS (%) |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Gardevoir | Charm / Dazzling Gleam | 116 |
| Crowned Sword Zacian | Metal Claw / Play Rough | 106 |
| Enamorus (Incarnate Forme) | Fairy Wind / Dazzling Gleam | 100 |
With Party Power, Crowned Sword Zacian becomes even more competitive as a Fairy attacker.
| Pokémon | Moveset | DPS (%) |
|---|---|---|
| Crowned Sword Zacian | Metal Claw / Play Rough | 127 |
| Mega Gardevoir | Charm / Dazzling Gleam | 110 |
| Enamorus (Incarnate Forme) | Fairy Wind / Dazzling Gleam | 100 |
Zacian vs. Zamazenta in PvP (Moveset, Performance)
| Pokémon | Fast Move | Charged Moves |
|---|---|---|
| Crowned Sword Zacian | Metal Claw | Behemoth Blade** + Close Combat |
| Crowned Shield Zamazenta | Ice Fang | Behemoth Bash** + Close Combat |
Crowned Sword Zacian with Metal Claw, Behemoth Blade, and Close Combat is arguably the strongest Pokémon in Master League.
Its Steel/Fairy typing gives it incredible matchup coverage against Pokémon such as Mawile and Tinkaton, while also serving as one of the hardest counters to Kyurem and numerous Dragon-types.
Although Crowned Shield Zamazenta has superior overall bulk on paper, the current Master League metagame overwhelmingly favors Crowned Sword Zacian, making it a far more common sight.
Max Battle Performance
Crowned Sword Zacian as an Attacker

Crowned Sword Zacian possesses outstanding base stats, making it significantly stronger than nearly every other Pokémon currently eligible for Max Battles.
When Behemoth Blade is fully upgraded, it becomes one of the strongest Steel-type Max Battle attackers available.
| Upgrade | Stardust | Candy / XL Candy |
|---|---|---|
| ⚔️ Behemoth Blade | 150,000 | 130 / 55 |
| 🛡️ Max Guard | 175,000 | 210 / 55 |
| ❤️ Max Spirit | 175,000 | 210 / 55 |
| Total | 500,000 | 550 / 165 |
The investment is substantial. Simply unlocking and maxing all Max Moves costs 500,000 Stardust, 550 Candy, and 165 XL Candy.
Factoring in powering Zacian to Level 50, the total investment reaches approximately:
- 1,075,000 Stardust
- 898 Candy
- 461 XL Candy
You’ll definitely want to raid Zacian extensively. Activating a Steel- or Fairy-type Mega Evolution beforehand is highly recommended to maximize Candy gains.
Crowned Shield Zamazenta as a Tank

Crowned Shield Zamazenta participates in Max Battles similarly to Dynamax Pokémon but stands out thanks to its exceptional defensive utility.
Its defining feature is Max Guard. Once unlocked, Zamazenta enters every Max Battle with one Barrier already active.
At maximum level, Max Guard provides 60 extra HP (20 → 40 → 60), dramatically improving Zamazenta’s ability to withstand powerful single-target attacks.
For example, in Gigantamax Battles, targeted attacks (indicated by the exclamation mark) deal massive damage to a single Pokémon. Zamazenta’s Max Guard effectively allows it to absorb these attacks, significantly improving the team’s overall survivability.
This makes Crowned Shield Zamazenta an excellent support-oriented tank for coordinated Max Battle strategies.
| Upgrade | Stardust | Candy / XL Candy |
|---|---|---|
| ⚔️ Behemoth Bash | 150,000 | 130 / 55 |
| 🛡️ Max Guard | 175,000 | 210 / 55 |
| ❤️ Max Spirit | 175,000 | 210 / 55 |
| Total | 500,000 | 550 / 165 |
Like Zacian, unlocking and upgrading all Max Moves requires 500,000 Stardust, 550 Candy, and 165 XL Candy.
To fully build a Level 50 Crowned Shield Zamazenta, expect to spend approximately:
- 1,075,000 Stardust
- 898 Candy
- 461 XL Candy
You’ll need to raid Zamazenta extensively, so using a Fighting-type Mega Evolution is highly recommended to maximize Candy rewards.
