Pokémon GO | Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn & Hydro Cannon Guide (2026) : Best Starter Pokémon Priority List

Starter Pokémon Exclusive Moves

In Pokémon GO, every Starter Pokémon (also known as First Partner Pokémon) can learn a powerful type-exclusive move:

  • Grass-type: Frenzy Plant
  • Fire-type: Blast Burn
  • Water-type: Hydro Cannon

These moves were originally introduced as Community Day-exclusive attacks, available only by evolving the featured Starter Pokémon during the event period. Today, they occasionally return as bonuses during select in-game events.

Below are the move details. In Trainer Battles (PvP), balancing adjustments make the moves differ slightly in efficiency, with Hydro Cannon having the highest Damage Per Energy (DPE), followed by Blast Burn, and then Frenzy Plant.

As shown above, these are the recommended priorities for Starter Pokémon capable of learning Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon.

The remaining Starter Pokémon are generally lower priorities, either because they are outperformed by other options or because they do not rely heavily on their exclusive move to perform well.
