Event Details
The Ozone Ascent event will be available in Pokémon GO from 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 25, to 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
During the event, all Trainers will receive a free Timed Research.
Completing this research will reward players with an encounter with Rayquaza and the special item Meteorite.
Players who purchase the paid Timed Research ticket ($4.99 USD) will gain access to additional rewards, including another Rayquaza encounter, extra Mega Rayquaza Energy, and an additional Meteorite.
Important: Rayquaza raids will not be available during this event. Additionally, all Timed Research tasks and rewards will expire when the event ends, regardless of your progress, so be sure to complete them before the deadline.
Dragon Ascent and the Meteorite
To Mega Evolve Rayquaza, it must know its signature Charged Attack, Dragon Ascent.
Teaching Rayquaza this exclusive move requires the special item Meteorite, which is only distributed during select events.
After learning Dragon Ascent, Rayquaza can Mega Evolve using Mega Energy.
Mega Rayquaza remains one of the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon GO, ranking among the top attackers in both the Dragon and Flying types.
If you already have a high-IV Rayquaza prepared, this event is an excellent opportunity to obtain a Meteorite and unlock the full potential of one of the game’s most powerful Pokémon.
