The Summer Run: Frozen Embers event introduces new Shiny Pokémon, rotating wild spawns based on the event date, 5 km Egg hatches, free Timed Research, and GO Pass rewards. It’s also one of the best opportunities to hunt several boosted Shiny Pokémon.


Shiny Pokémon

New Shiny Debuts: Snom & Frosmoth

For the first time in Pokémon GO, Shiny Snom and Shiny Frosmoth will make their debut during Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers event.

To evolve Snom into Frosmoth, you must earn 10 Buddy Hearts with Snom as your Buddy, then evolve it at night using 400 Snom Candy.

During the event, Snom can be obtained through GO Pass rewards and 5 km Eggs.

Increased Shiny Rates

In addition to the new Shiny Pokémon, the following Pokémon will also have significantly boosted Shiny odds:

  • Ponyta
  • Slugma
  • Snover
  • Vanillite

The expected Shiny rate is approximately 1.6% (about 1 in 64). Compared to the standard wild Shiny rate of roughly 0.2% (about 1 in 512), this represents an almost eightfold increase.


Wild Pokémon Encounters

Different Pokémon will appear in the wild depending on the event date.

Wild Spawn Schedule

  • Available throughout the event: Vulpix, Alolan Vulpix, Growlithe, Swinub, Snorunt, and more
  • August 4, 6, 8, and 10: Ponyta, Snover
  • August 5, 7, 9, and 10: Slugma, Vanillite

5km Egg Pokémon

The following Pokémon can hatch from 5 km Eggs during the event:

  • Sneasel✨
  • Darumaka✨
  • Galarian Darumaka✨
  • Sizzlipede✨
  • Snom✨

All of these Pokémon have a chance of hatching as Shiny. If you’re hunting the newly released Shiny Snom, make sure to hatch as many 5 km Eggs as possible throughout the event.

Field Research tasks and rewards will be updated once they are announced.


Timed Research

A free Timed Research will be available during the event, rewarding a Marathon Sun Cap Pikachu encounter and 16,800 XP.

Remember that Timed Research expires when the event ends, regardless of your progress, so be sure to complete it before the deadline.

GO Pass Basic & Deluxe Rewards

GO Pass progression and both Basic and Deluxe reward tracks will be updated once official details become available.
