The Pokémon GO Design Team is currently conducting a survey to gather feedback on players’ experiences with Gyms in Pokémon GO.

Please note that the survey occasionally includes attention-check questions to verify response quality, so be sure to read each question carefully before answering.
However, some of the survey questions have already sparked concern among overseas players.
One particular question—Question 21, regarding Gym activity frequency—has drawn significant attention. It asks players how they would feel if PokéCoins could no longer be earned from Gyms in the future.
As you might expect, many players have expressed concern that this could indicate Scopely is considering changes to the current Gym reward system.
As a Pokémon GO player, this possibility is concerning. While I personally spend money on the game (mostly because it’s more convenient than grinding), reducing—or worse, completely removing—PokéCoins earned from Gyms could make the game much less accessible for free-to-play users and younger players who can’t easily make in-app purchases.
Pokémon GO is also a game that often encourages cooperation with other Trainers, as many of its activities cannot be fully enjoyed alone. If free PokéCoins were removed, it could negatively affect the overall gameplay experience and reduce player engagement across the community.
That said, things would be different if Scopely introduced another way for players to earn around 1,500 PokéCoins per month. Until there’s any sign of such an alternative, however, it’s hard not to be cautious.
